Gerald Thurman, a newcomer to mathematical roadsigns, submitted this sign from the Arizona on the board as the 21st state to show up on Road Sign Math. This sign points the way to the unfortunately named Bullhead City. Is this city named after the very unbecoming, and not very tasty fish? Is it named for having a particularly stubborn population? It is hard to say. But it is interesting to note that the cities on either side of it are either laughing or on pins-and-needles.

The math on this sign is wonderfully elegant. It is rather rare that we get a sign with 5 numbers that comes together so cleanly.

4 + 17 + 9 + 10 = 40

This sign is found at the intersection of county highway 153 and state highway 95.
